Dr Omar Ali Kowlessar
Chartered Clinical Psychologist,
Dr Omar Ali Kowlessar (he/him) is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, HCPC-registered, BABCP-accredited CBT therapist, and EuroPsy registered psychologist. He brings over 15 years of experience working across NHS, corporate, and private sectors, with particular expertise in long-term health conditions, complex mental health, and service innovation. Omar is also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and regularly contributes to Clinical Psychology training programmes. Clinically, Omar offers a flexible and evidence-based approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). He is trained in the ADOS-2 autism diagnostic tool and provides psychometric and neuropsychological assessments when indicated.
Omar has held senior clinical leadership positions in national mental health organisations, where he led the mobilisation and development of large-scale psychological services, including IAPT and Talking Therapies. He has significantexperience in clinical governance, team supervision, and workforce development,and is committed to improving access to high-quality, person-centred psychological care. He is passionate about supporting both clients and professionals through psychologically informed services and has published research on parenting, men’s experiences of pregnancy, and rehabilitation in mental health.
